New Medicare Coverage and Payment for Primary Care Services—Learn About the Primary Care Services and Revenue Opportunities for Academy Practices Effective January 2017
Originally presented on Monday, December 12, 2016
Gary Swartz, JD MPA
Mr. Swartz has more than 30 years of experience in medical practice management and health systems management, consulting, and recruitment. His background includes work in health policy and advocacy and audit and compliance for health systems. In his role with AAHCM, he provides practice management and regulatory advice to medical practices and organizations across the country. Mr. Swartz also provides public policy service for the Academy and leads a best practices and evidence gathering learning collaborative for practices participating in Independence at Home, a Medicare shared savings demonstration.
CMS finalized coverage and payment for new primary care services effective 2017. CMS also has revised the requirements for chronic care management services. These new services are the result of advocacy of the Academy and other medical associations. You may be rendering services that already meet the service requirements. Now you will be paid for these professional services and those of your staff. The payment for these services should add significant revenue to your practice over the course of the year, support care team staffing, and practice transformation.
