Recorded at 2017 AAHCM Annual Meeting
The session will describe a method of evaluating the likelihood that a patient will use and benefit from a technology-based application or device in their home. The modified usability evaluation has been adapted from processes used by design engineers to examine human-computer interactions. The evaluation combines exploratory learning, cognitive walkthrough, domain knowledge and heuristic documentation. Unlike design engineers who use usability evaluations to determine if a prototype is acceptable for manufacturing, the modified usability evaluation would be used to determine if the manufactured technology has the potential to be used by a patient in their home.
